Action Research
The complexity of the 21st Century calls for us to learn new skills and capacities to problem solve and innovate. Participatory Action Research is about adaptation, problem solving, and innovation. We believe that it's those people closest to a situation that can best deal with it. Sustainable change does not come from the outside. Real change only happens when those deeply connected with a situation engage in the change process.
There is a need and opportunity today for Participatory Action Research strategies; strategies that value local, contextualized knowledge and offer those dealing with the challenges the means to enact sustainable change for themselves. It's edgy and forward thinking, and organizations are jumping on board.
We specialize in change strategies that are part of the family of action research methods - action inquiry, collaborative inquiry, and action research. These strategies foreground practical results that include high levels of engagement, individual and team ownership and accountability, innovation, improved communication, and peak performance.
Examples of Action Research projects weve been involved with include:
- Optimal staffing for a law-enforcement telecommunications center
- Redesigning product "end of life" cycles
- Improved staffing relationships for nursing managers
- Increased communication between city agencies
- Creation of a more diversity-supporting organizational culture in a non-profit.
